A long time

It has been a really long time since I last posted here. I admit that it has not been a huge priority. My wife and our three kids recently moved and it's been all I can do to not go crazy unpacking things. So instead of posting blogs, I've been living my hectic life.

Without internet, I have surprisingly gotten a lot of writing for myself done. I started a new novel and I am already over 1/3 of the way done with a rough draft in well under a month. Not a bad pace. I am hoping to have it completely done by the beginning of September. That includes editing and whatnot, assuming that "whatnot" is part of the writing process.

I would really like to market this at a writer's/mystery conference. If anyone knows of any in the New York area, please let me know. I have considered self-publishing this, but I think I want to find a traditional publisher. I know that this is not necessarily the best thing for a writer to do nowadays, but I really don't have the energy or know-how to market this book myself and I think having an agent/publisher do this for me will be better for me right now. I read Joe Konrath's blog religiously and I know he would have a big slap in the face for me if he read this, but I am just not able to do the self-promo stuff that needs to be done to be a successful self-pubbed author. This is not a decision I have fully committed to, however, and I can be swayed either way.

Whatever happens with this book, the first step is to actually finish it!
